Throughout the cutting and polishing process each RAND Diamond has been constantly measured and compared to its original blueprint. Only when a diamond matches the exact specifications laid out in its blueprint will it be released from the cutting area as a potential RAND diamond. It is once again checked against its blueprint and scrutinized by microscope in order to ensure that there are no problems with the diamond that the imaging system may have missed.
Each RAND diamond has to meet both the exacting computer specifications and the scrutiny of the human eye.
One final and unusual quality check is made: Each diamond is placed on a lady's hand in normal light. She looks at each of these diamonds as one would a ring on a finger in order to ensure that each has the sparkle and life expected of a RAND.
At the end of the polishing and inspection process, less than 50% of the diamonds purchased in the rough will have become RAND diamonds. And the time taken to craft each RAND diamond will be up to four times longer than usual.
